— Evolution

WEAPON
EVOLUTION.

Evolutions are the endgame payoff for weapon mastery. Pick two specific weapons, push both to Level 8, and they fuse into a brand-new evolved weapon that rewrites your run. Three are character signatures, six are gated behind a specific mixtape — between them, they're how a build becomes your build.

— How it works

THREE STEPS.
ONE FUSION.

01

Mastery

Both ingredient weapons must reach Level 8 — the hard cap. Every level-up adds +20% damage and −6% cooldown to that weapon. Reaching L8 takes 4–5 picks per weapon, so plan to dedicate several level-ups to your evolution pair.

02

Trigger

The moment both ingredients hit L8, the next level-up shows the evolution card in the guaranteed first slot of the perk draft. The card includes a recipe row above the icon: ingredient_a + ingredient_b → result. You can't miss it.

03

Fusion moment

Selecting the card kicks off a 1.5-second held-frame ceremony: the two ingredient icons collide at center, white flash, the result icon scales up, screen shake, and the name banner drops in. Then the evolved weapon takes over the slot for the rest of the run.

— Two flavors

SIGNATURE OR
MIXTAPE-GATED.

Both flavors of evolution share the L8-on-both rule, but they answer different design questions: how do new players get to feel an evolution in their first run, and how does the late-game keep its big-payoff moments?

SIGNATURE · 3 OF 9

Character signatures

Always available. No mixtape requirement. Tied to a character's identity — Trixie has The Collab, Biggie has Bottoms Up, Shorty B has Wild Pack. The natural first evolution for a new player: pick your character, max their starter pair, watch the fusion happen.

MIXTAPE-GATED · 6 OF 9

Mixtape evolutions

Both weapons at L8 and a specific mixtape at L3+. The "big build" payoff. Three things have to come together at once, which makes pulling one off feel like the high-water mark of the run. Mixtape offers unlock at player level 5 — start hunting your tape early.

— The Codex

LOCKED.
DISCOVERED.
MASTERED.

The Evolution Codex (hub → Rap Sheet → scroll to evolutions) tracks every recipe you've encountered. It's spoiler-aware: you don't know what an evolution actually does until you commit to one in a run.

STATE 01 LOCKED

You've never had both ingredients in a loadout at the same time. The recipe shows as ??? + ??? with a dark silhouette where the result icon would be.

STATE 02 DISCOVERED

You've held both ingredients in the same run. Recipe reveals (ingredient names + mixtape gate if any) — but the effect description stays hidden. You have to actually evolve to learn what it does.

STATE 03 MASTERED

You pulled it off in a run. Full effect description unlocked. A "Mastered" counter tracks how many times you've evolved this recipe across all runs.

— First evolution

FIVE THINGS
NEW PLAYERS
SHOULD KNOW.

  1. 01
    Plan ahead.

Identify a signature evolution for your character before you start. Trixie's The Collab uses her two starting weapons (Mic + Vinyl) — it's the natural first evolution and the one we recommend for your first run.

  2. 02
    Level-up priority.

When your target ingredients show up on a level-up card, take them. Spread picks — a weapon stuck at L4 contributes nothing toward an evolution. Both have to hit 8.

  3. 03
    Both to 8.

Level 8 is the hard gate. ~4–5 level-up picks per weapon. Plan to dedicate the first half of your run to weapon levelling, then unlock the evolution and ride it through the second half.

  4. 04
    Mixtape gate is real.

For mixtape evolutions, you need three things at once: weapon A L8, weapon B L8, mixtape L3+. Mixtape offers unlock at player level 5. If you're chasing a mixtape evolution, start hunting the tape early or you'll run out of time.

  5. 05
    You can't miss it.

When both ingredients hit L8, the evolution card auto-appears in the guaranteed first slot at your next level-up. You don't need to "remember" to take it — the game shows it to you. Just say yes.

Before each run, check the Evolution Codex in the hub. It shows which recipes you've discovered (ingredient names visible) and mastered (effects unlocked). Use it to plan your build.
